![]() |
At Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC, we are glad to provide those who need information about the San Mateo County jail system, particularly the Redwood City and Maguire jail facilities, to those who need to know more about jail/bail release in order to have loved ones or family members who are incarcerated released from jail.
The San Mateo County jail system is comprised of two Redwood City jail facilities, the Maguire Correctional Facility and Maple Street Complex facilities. We provide more information regarding jail release and bail further down on this page. Men who are arrested are placed in the Maguire facility, while women are placed in the Maple Street Complex. There is also a Redwood City transitional facility designed for both men and women at the Maple Street Complex.
Those who are incarcerated typically must post bail in order to get out of jail. Bail is usually given in the form of money, but can be a home or any property of value pledged by someone else promising that the incarcerated will show up for hearings, trials or other court proceedings. At Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC, we advise those with loved ones incarcerated in a Redwood City jail to consult with an attorney before contacting a bail bondsman. An experienced lawyer may be able to bring the issue before a judge, having the inmate released on his/her own recognizance, or have the amount required to post bail reduced.
There are two ways that you can approach jail/bail release at the Maguire jail. You may bring the required cash to the cashiers window which is located in the lobby of the Maguire Correctional Facility, or use a bail bonds agency. Bail bondsmen typically charge about 10% to 15% of the bail as their fee which is nonrefundable, so it is important that you speak with an attorney who can determine if there is a possibility that the bail can be lowered or eliminated. When you hire an attorney, the bail premium can be lowered to 8%, or, in some cases, to 7% - because bail bondsmen are permitted to charge lower premiums to clients who hire attorneys.
Jail and bail release work in the same manner at the Maple Street Complex Facility.
At Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC, our skilled criminal defense attorneys realize that those incarcerated in a Redwood City jail desire to be released as quickly as possible. If you need further information regarding jail/bail release from a San Mateo County jail facility, contact us right away.
