Cherie R. Beasley:
Ms. Beasley graduated with honors from San Francisco State University in 2002. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both criminal justice and organizational communications. Ms. Beasley continued her education at the University of San Francisco School of Law and earned her law degree in 2007. During her time at the University of San Francisco School of Law, Ms. Beasley distinguished herself with the Best Oral Argument award in 2005 and as a semi-finalist in the Advocate of the Year competition in 2006.
Ms. Beasley joined Bay Area Criminal Lawyers in March of 2008. Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Beasley had a background in immigration law and criminal defense. Her previous criminal defense experience includes her work for the Marin County Public Defender and another local private defense firm in the South Bay.
Throughout her experiences, both academic and professional, Ms. Beasley has developed an immense passion for criminal law and social justice. She appreciates every individual opportunity to provide quality representation to her clients and has a firm commitment to do her part in ensuring that law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and judges observe and respect the rights of her clients.
Ms. Beasley has been navigating criminal courts and enjoying success on behalf of her clients since she was a certified law clerk in 2005. During that period, she has developed a record of dismissals, favorable plea bargains, and trial victories. On September 21, 2009, in Placer County, she argued a successful motion to suppress evidence, which resulted in a dismissal of both criminal charges and an alleged probation violation.
Ms. Beasley has worked on cases ranging from petty theft to extremely violent felonies. In a recent three strikes trial in Sonoma County, a defendant facing a potential 58 year sentence in state prison avoided the mandatory Three Strikes sentencing scheme, because the Court granted Ms. Beasley's motion to set aside his previous strikes. The defendant was then acquitted of violent felony charges.
Ms. Beasley is pleased to have found a home at Bay Area Criminal Lawyers, PC, where she is able to collaborate with a defense team that shares her values.
